A Temple Zion Youth Department Initiative
Since its inception in 2011, the Summer Shabbos Youth Program has provided a great environment for kids of all ages.
Each Shabbos from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., children experience Shabbos Sing-Along, Davening, Jewish Story Time, Mock Shabbat Table Rituals, a Healthy Kosher Snack and Socialization in our ABRAHAM HALL.
This special program is led by an experienced Youth Director and assisted by a Youth Coordinator. For more on their backgrounds, please read their bios below.
Special thanks to our congregation for your continued support of this very worthy cause for our shul community and especially, our children.
We look forward to a warm, engaging, social and Shabbat-reinforcing experience for Summer 2015. Specific details will follow closer to program start-date.

Moshe Kieval, our Summer Shabbos Program Youth Director, also manages a home in Brooklyn for 12 boys on the autistic spectrum. He has always loved working with kids and has held similar positions at other synagogues while in college, at the University of Vermont. After his undergraduate studies, Moshe spent three years studying Torah and Judaism at the Shor Yoshuv Rabbinical College in Far Rockaway. He has a son named Judah who is also incredibly excited for a magnificent summer at Temple Zion.
2014 marks Rachel’s third summer as Youth Coordinator for Temple Zion’s Summer Shabbos Program. As a student at CUNY Borough of Manhattan CC, Rachel is studying music and plans to pursue a degree in Music Education. She recently completed a Taglit Birthright trip to Israel. Rachel plans to share her love and knowledge of singing and experiences in Israel with our children this summer.
